“Our second banquet carried on where our awesome first banquet left off!” said Lee Zimmerman, President of the Montgomery County, Texas Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, “We’re absolutely thrilled with the result! A huge thanks to all our sponsors and our guests for coming out and showing us their support. Special big shoutouts to Wayne Potter, Joe Salas, Scott Stephens, Vence Petranella, Mike Shouse, and Jarod Hamm. We couldn’t have done this without you!”

“Families came out, played games and entered raffles to win name brand guns,” says Zimmerman, “Guests bid on exclusive framed art, guns, collectibles, sculptures, home furnishings and so much more at our silent and live auctions.”

NWTF CEO Becky Humphries and Bone Collector Michael Waddell ‘dropped’ in by video to welcome the banquet’s largest crowd and stressed how we need to be more vigilant in preserving our natural wildlife habitat.

“Preserving natural habitat is important today if we want our kids to be able to enjoy it tomorrow,” said Mike Shouse, National Wild Turkey Federation, Regional Director for Southern Texas, “Right now we lose enough natural wildlife habitat acreage in the US each year to fill Yellowstone National Park.”

2016 Texas State Champion Auctioneer Jarod Hamm worked his magic with the crowd in the live auction selling items ranging from hunting adventures and vacation getaway packages to deer feeders, guns and autographed guitars.

“Our sponsors loved the idea of being able to promote their products and services at their display booths right in the banquet hall,” commented Zimmerman.

“The banquet enabled our NWTF Chapter to raise a lot of money for a great cause – the preservation of natural habitat for wild turkeys across our great State of Texas and our great nation” said Zimmerman.

Local and state NWTF chapters host thousands of similar events nationwide each year to raise funds that help conserve wildlife and habitat, and introduce new people to the outdoors. Many families enjoy hunting together and pass traditions on from one generation to another. Hunting is also important for the health of our nation’s wildlife and habitat because hunters fund conservation.
